Well the filing deadline has passed for most if not all of the elections and I Can tell you which races will actually take and which of those are part of the great what ifs.

First post will be about the regional Court of Appeal race

Court of Appeals Judge Mike Henry (elected in November 2004) has drawn a challenge from Jim Lambert of Rockcastle. Jim is Chief Justice Joe Lambert's brother and a former Rockcastle County Attorney. His tenure as County Attorney was so controversial in the early 1990s that then Chief Justice Stephens actually appointed a special County Attorney to take over prosecution of DUI cases. Lambert ran in 1995 for statewide office and had a poor showing. Henry should not have any trouble in this race as everyone seems to like him and he is well-regarded.

Indeed the main effect of the race may be to doom the judicial career of Debbie Lambert, wife of Justice Lambert, as she is involved in race in Pulaski county. Pulaski is Henry's home county and I suspect there will be some blowback from Jim Lambert's decision to run against along-time Judicial figure in Pulaski county.
